Split Split is the economic and administrative center of Middle Dalmatia, with about 200,000 inhabitants. It is also the jumping-off point for exploration of the coast and islands of the beautiful Croatian Adriatic. The site was first settled when, at the end of the third century AD, the Roman Emperor Diocletian built his palace here. The importance of Diocletian's Palace far transcends local significance because of its level of preservation and the buildings of succeeding historical periods built within its walls, which today form the very heart of old Split. Split's growth became particularly rapid in the 7th century, when the inhabitants of the destroyed Greek and Roman metropolis Salonae (present-day Solin) took refuge within its walls.

Omis an der imposanten Cetina-Mündung (überspannt von einer modernen, harmonisch sich ins Bild fügenden Brücke) war im Mittelalter als Piratennest bekannt. Die malerische Landschaft ergänzen der Stadtkern und die alten Festungen, aber auch der fast 1 km lange Sandstrand (ideal für Kinder) und die 700 m breite, durch Flußablagerungen entstandene Untiefe.Ein Geheimtip sind Radmanove mlinice (Radmans Wassermühlen), wo man in einem ausgezeichneten Restaurant einheimische Spezialitäten probieren kann.

Vielfältige Sport- und Freizeitmöglichkeiten: Fußball, Basketball, Tennis, Boccia und Strandvolleyball. An den Steilfelsen des Cetina-Flußtals kann man sich an 30 Kletterrouten im Free-climbing üben; Wassersportrequisiten werden ebenfalls vermietet. Freizeitsportler können am alljährlichen Schwimmarathon teilnehmen.Einen ruhigen Urlaub versprechen auch die Ortschaften der Umgebung: StaniCi, Celine, Ruskamen, Mimice, MaruSiCi, Pisak.

Obwohl der Ort klein ist hat es seine Restaurants,Pizzerias und Konobas.Unter anderem im

Zentrum befindet sich ebenfalls ein kleines Geschaft mit taglich frische Nahrung wie auch Obst und Gemuse,direkt daneben ist die Post.Die Kuste weist viele Buchten mit Sand-und Kieselstranden auf;die grossten Buchten sind Solinska,Krknjaše,Kokošinje und Mala luka,wo man ganz tolle Ausfluge machen kann.

Wenn sie sich fur ein aktiven Urlaub etschlossen haben dann konnen sie auf Veli Drvenik auch Radfahrwege finden.

Traumausblick auf Insel Hvar
 

Fahren Sie (fast ganz hinauf) auf den höchsten Gipfel der Insel Hvar (St. Nikola, 634 m). Strasse/Schotter in schlechtem Zustand, rechte Abzweigung vor dem Tunnel der den Ort Hvar mit StariGrad verbindet, angeschrieben als "Kolumbic, obiteljsko domacinstvo" nehmen. Strasse ist teilweise nur Piste. Fahrzeit von Hvar zum Parkplatz unterhalb des Gipfels ca 45 min.
Die Aussicht ist sensationell, eine kleine Kapelle und ein Gipfelkreuz mit Gipfelbuch erwartet Sie. Schwindelfreiheit ist angeraten, gutes Schuhwerk empfohlen.
Im Landgut Kolumbic bekommen Sie erstklassige einheimische Speisen und hervorragenden Rotwein.
